The next
meetings of the heads of security and border services of Azerbaijan and Armenia
were held
Head of the
State Security Service of the Republic of Azerbaijan Colonel-General Ali Naghiyev
and Director of the National Security Service of the Republic of Armenia Armen
Abazyan held meetings on January 8, 2021, in the neutral zone of the
Azerbaijani-Armenian border crossing the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, and on
January 10, in the border settlements of Vorotan and Shurnukh in the Syunik
region of Armenia. The last meeting was also attended by the head of the State
Border Service of the Republic of Azerbaijan Colonel-General Elchin Guliyev,
and the leadership of the Border Service of the Republic of Armenia.
The meetings
focused on joint investigation of incidents at state borders, the security of
Nagorno-Karabakh region of the Republic of Azerbaijan and liberated territories
our country, identification of burial places in combat zones, and exchange of
the hostages, as well as clarification of the fate of those missing and taken
hostage in the First Karabakh War and Patriotic War.
Moreover, the talks outlined that continued observance
of the ceasefire reached under the Tripartite Declaration of November 10, 2020,
serves both peoples' interests and security, including the Azerbaijani and
Armenian communities of Karabakh region of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
