Illegal turnover of large quantities of narcotic drugs in the country has been prevented

Illegal turnover of large quantities of narcotic drugs, psychotropic, and high-intensity substances smuggled from the Islamic Republic of Iran to the Republic of Azerbaijan was prevented as a result of the joint operational-search activities undertaken by the State Security Service and the State Border Service.

Large quantities of drugs - 19 kilograms 736.04 grams of heroin, 10 kilograms 149.75 grams of opium, 3 kilograms 788.18 grams of dried marijuana, 104.44 grams of methadone, psychotropic substance - 19 kilograms 786.10 grams of methamphetamine, and 75 grams of pregabalin - were found and seized from the citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan Humbatov Vugar Huseyn and Aliyev Elnur Telman, who illegally obtained them for sale.

A criminal case has been launched in connection with this fact by the State Security Service under articles 206.3.2 (smuggling of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances by prior conspiracy with a group of people), 234.4.1 and 234.4.3 (illegal acquisition, storage, transportation, and sale of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances by prior conspiracy with a group of people), 240.3.2 (illegal trafficking of high-intensity or toxic substances in large quantities) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and Humbatov Vugar and Aliyev Elnur have been involved as accused persons and remanded in custody by the court’s decision.

At present, operational and investigative measures to identify other participants of these criminal actions are ongoing.
