Chief of the SSS, colonel-general Ali Naghiyev, attended the 58th meeting of the Council of heads of security and special service agencies of the CIS member states.

On May 26, the Chief of the State Security Service of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Colonel-General Ali Naghiyev, participated in the 58th meeting of the Council of heads of security and special service agencies of the CIS member states held in the Irkutsk Region of the Russian Federation (RF).

During the meeting, where crucial decisions aimed at strengthening regional security were adopted, the outcomes of counter-terrorism measures implemented over the past years were thoroughly analyzed, and concrete future steps were determined. Furthermore, the meeting participants agreed on new cooperation formats for the joint fight against transnational terrorism and religious radicalism.

Paying specific attention to the rapid advancement of technology, the Council members endorsed a conceptual document outlining recommendations for the utilization of artificial intelligence in the operations of the security agencies of the CIS countries. It was emphasized that the implementation of the respective document would create favorable conditions to significantly enhance the scientific potential and operational capabilities of the aforementioned structures.

At the event, the Chief of the SSS, Colonel-General Ali Naghiyev, delivered a comprehensive report on recent numerous threats to international stability, the security of transport and communication lines, as well as new manifestations of terrorism, and the work accomplished in Azerbaijan in the relevant field. Emphasizing that the complex geopolitical situation heavily impacts the operational environment in the region, the Service Chief highlighted that information exchange and interaction among partner agencies are of particular importance in countering threats directed at the security system, and stressed the necessity of further strengthening joint efforts in this regard.

Within the framework of the meeting, which featured an extensive exchange of views on the future prospects, strategy, and upcoming tasks of the interaction among the special services of the CIS states, documents aimed at consolidating multilateral cooperation in the field of security were signed.
