At SSS was celebrated the professional holiday of employees of Azerbaijan security agencies.

By the Decree of the National Leader Heydar Aliyev dated March 23rd, 1997, March 28th was established as the day of professional holiday of Azerbaijan security agencies.

On the occasion of the 106th anniversary of the establishment of Azerbaijan security agencies, on April 2nd, the Chief of the State Security Service, Colonel-General Ali Naghiyev, and the employees of the Service visited the grave of the honorary head of the security agencies of Azerbaijan, Great Leader Heydar Aliyev in the Alley of Honour and expressed their deep respect for the dear memory of the great personality and laid wreaths and bouquets of flowers in front of his grave.

The memory of the outstanding ophthalmologist-scientist Zarifa Aliyeva was also commemorated and bouquets of flowers were laid on her grave.

Later, the graves of our martyrs who lost their lives for the independence of our republic and those of deceased employees of security agencies, who are National Heroes of Azerbaijan, were visited in the Alley of Martyrs and on behalf of the Service a wreath was laid in front of the “Eternal Torch” monument.

At the event organized in the assembly hall of the State Security Service (SSS) with the participation of the Service’s personnel and veterans, firstly, the memory of our martyrs who died for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of our country was commemorated and then the National Anthem was sung. 

The Chief of the SSS, Colonel-General Ali Naghiyev, delivered a speech and congratulated the personnel on the occasion of their professional holiday, and spoke in detail about the undeniable role of the Great Leader Heydar Aliyev, who devoted 25 years of his life to service in this important institution in the development of the security agencies, which have gone through a difficult path since their inception. The Chief of the Service stated that even at these days the employees of SSS continue to follow the school of professionalism and patriotism heritage founded by the Great Leader.

Speaking about the special attention and invaluable care demonstrated by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Ilham Aliyev to the security agencies, Colonel-General Ali Naghiyev noted that it is precisely as a result of this attention and care it was possible to adjust the activities of SSS to the modern challenges, and the material and technical support of the Service, the working conditions and social status of employees are improving day by day.

The Chief of the Service emphasized that the SSS has been operating effectively in terms of reliable security provision over the past year and that important work has been done to prevent external and internal threats, in particular, significant results have been achieved in the fight against the crimes of treason, espionage, terrorism, financing of terrorism and preparation for an assassination attempts on the life of a state or public figures.

Noting that some destructive forces have attempted to carry out disruptive activities in the past, Colonel-General Ali Naghiyev stated that threates against the security of our country shall be resolutely prevented.

At the end of his speech, Ali Naghiyev expressed his deep belief that the trust and confidence shown by Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev to the personnel of SSS will continue to be justified, and that the employees shall always work with great effort and determination for the sake of security protection.

Speaking at the event, the Chairman of the Committee on Defense, Security and Combating Corruption of the Milli Majlis, Arzu Naghiyev, congratulated the employees and veterans of SSS on the day of the establishment of the Azerbaijan security agencies and their professional holiday and expressed his belief that the tasks facing the Azerbaijani special services shall continue to be successfully fulfilled and that the SSS shall continue to make significant contributions to the protection of security, and that the Service shall gain new achievements in the future under the leadership of the head of state.

After the speeches, the Orders signed by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan awarding to a group of employees of SSS higher military ranks, various decorations and medals was announced, and a number of employees were awarded by the relevant orders of SSS.

After the official part, the event continued with an artistic part consisting of a featered program at the Cultural Center of SSS.
