The
next meeting of the heads of special service bodies of the CIS member states
was held.
On October 4, the 55th meeting of the Council of heads of security and
special service agencies of the CIS member states was held in Astana, the
capital of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and the Chief of the State Security
Service of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Colonel-General Ali Naghiyev
participated in the event.
First, the heads of the delegations were received by the President of
the Republic of Kazakhstan Kasim-Jomart Tokayev. Later, the meeting of the
Council started its work.
Within the framework of the meeting, speeches were made and detailed
views were exchanged about the external influences on the security of the CIS
countries, the threats faced by the member states of the organization, especially
on increasing the efficiency of the joint fight against international terrorism
and religious extremism. It was stated that the modern challenges to the
security of the republics located in the CIS, destructive activities
accompanied by intelligence-disruptive activities of some foreign circles
interested in keeping the general situation tense in the region with the goal
of disrupting stability in the region require that the special service agencies
of the Union states be constantly vigilant, it is necessary to work in a
coordinated manner by combining efforts, continuous strengthening of
cooperation, regular sharing of gained experience and obtained operational
information between partner institutions.
It was also noted that issues such as transnational organized crime,
illegal drug trafficking, cybercrime and illegal migration, which pose a
serious risk to security, have recently become more prominent, which means that
the special service agencies of the CIS countries must take more and more
decisive steps against these situations.
In the
course of the event, there were extensive discussions on the important tasks
facing the security organizations in the fight against negative manifestations
and the measures that should be implemented in the future.
