The 104th anniversary of the establishment of the Azerbaijani security agencies was solemnly celebrated in SSS

March 28 was established as a professional holiday of employees of the security agencies of the Republic of Azerbaijan by the relevant Order signed by Great Leader Heydar Aliyev on March 23, 1997.

On the occasion of the 104th anniversary of the establishment of the security agencies of Azerbaijan and the professional holiday, the Chief of the State Security Service, Colonel-General Ali Naghiyev and the leadership of the Service visited the grave of National Leader Heydar Aliyev in the Alley of Honor, laid a wreath in front of it and expressed their deep respect for the dear memory of the genius. The memory of prominent ophthalmologist-scientist, academician Zarifa Aliyeva was also commemorated and flowers were arranged on her grave.

The personnel of the State Security Service (SSS) also visited the Alley of Martyrs, laid wreaths on the graves of the heroic children of the Motherland and the employees of the security agencies who died during in the First Karabakh War, and laid a wreath in front of the “Eternal Torch” monument on behalf of the Service.

The official part of the event held in the assembly hall of the State Security Service was attended by the leadership and employees of the SSS, veterans of the Azerbaijani security agencies, and cadets of the Academy of Security Service named after Heydar Aliyev.

After the memory of our martyrs, who died for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Azerbaijan, was commemorated with a minute of silence and the National Anthem was played, the head of the SSS, Colonel-General Ali Naghiyev, delivered a speech and congratulated the personnel and veterans on the occasion of the professional holiday. The head of the Service opened a wide discussion about the establishment of the security agencies, which is more than a century old, and noted the invaluable services of the Great Leader in the development of these agencies and their formation as an organization serving national interests. He emphasized that Heydar Aliyev courageously and successfully carried out the process of nationalization of special services in a difficult time like the Soviet era, promoted Azerbaijani personnel to high positions in this important institution.

Colonel-General Ali Naghiyev stated that under the wise leadership and direct instructions of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mr. Ilham Aliyev, the State Security Service established its activities in accordance with the requirements of modern challenges and peace is securely maintained.

Speaking about the further strengthening of the material and technical base of the SSS, the improvement of the housing and living conditions of the employees and the strengthening of social protection, the Chief of the Service said that all this was possible as a result of the support of the head of state.

In his speech, Colonel-General Ali Naghiyev, who touched on the geopolitical processes in the world and which are accompanied by serious upheavals, spoke about the insidious actions of some states neighboring Azerbaijan, which are currently directed against the security of our republic, and noted that the intelligence-disruptive activities and provocations of the special services of those states are being resolutely prevented and in our country the prevailing security environment is always reliably maintained.

At the same time, the Chief of the Service, Ali Naghiyev, specially noted that thanks to the high leadership skills of the Supreme Commander and the bravery of the Azerbaijan Army, other state bodies are required to successfully implement the process of relocating our citizens to the territories freed from occupation and where large-scale reconstruction and reconstruction works are currently being carried out. All possibilities will be mobilized by SSS as well.

Later, other speakers at the event shared their views on the examples of professionalism demonstrated by the Great Leader during his 25 years of service in the security agencies, the operations successfully conducted under the direct leadership of Heydar Aliyev, as well as the tasks facing the security agencies in the modern era.

After the speeches, a ceremony was held to present awards to employees distinguished for their achievements in the service.

At the event, on behalf of the personnel, an appeal was read to the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Mr. Ilham Aliyev, and special gratitude was expressed for the trust, attention and care shown to the head of the country, it was promised that the employees of the State Security Service will always be vigilant in guarding the national interests and security and they will continue to work with all their strength to fulfill this sacred mission.

In the end, the documentary film “La Vira - secret menu” prepared by SSS together with “Real” TV was shown.

The entertainment part of the event continued with a concert program performed by well-known cultural and artistic figures in the Cultural Center of the SSS.
