The head of the State Security Service paid an official visit to Georgia
On
April 27-28, 2021, Head of the State Security Service of the Republic of
Azerbaijan Colonel-General Ali Naghiyev paid an official visit to Georgia at
the invitation of the Head of the State Security Service of Georgia, Grigol
Liluashvili.
During
the visit, Colonel-General Ali Nagiyev visited the monument to National Leader
Heydar Aliyev in Tbilisi, laid a wreath at the monument and paid tribute to his
memory. Then a monument built in honor of those who
sacrificed their lives for the territorial integrity of Georgia was visited in
the Heroes' Square of the city, and a wreath was laid in front of the monument.
During
the meeting with the head of the Georgian State Security Service Grigol
Liluashvili, the current operational conditions in the region and the factors
affecting it, improvements to be made in the fight against international
terrorism and transnational organized crime, further expansion of cooperation
in the exchange of experience and information, as well as the importance of
enhancing the effectiveness of the joint fight against new threats posed by the
coronavirus pandemic, which caused
serious political and economic consequences, and other topical security issues
were discussed.
At
the same time, Colonel-General Ali Naghiyev met with Georgian Minister of Internal
Affairs Vakhtang Gomelauri. The sides exchanged views on issues of mutual
importance, stressed the importance of ensuring security in the region and
increasing joint efforts in the fight against terrorism and other criminal
groups. The parties expressed confidence that cooperation between the law
enforcement agencies of the two countries will continue to grow.
The
Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Garibashvili received a delegation led by the Head
of the State Security Service Colonel-General Ali Naghiyev. Expressing
satisfaction with the level of friendly relations and strategic partnership
between Azerbaijan and Georgia, Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili stressed
that relations between the two countries in the field of security are
developing steadily and this cooperation contributes to the establishment of
peace and stability in the region.
Expressing
gratitude for the warm welcome and high hospitality, as well as the conditions
created for the discussion of issues on the development of partnership in the
field of security, the head of the Service conveyed the greetings of President
Ilham Aliyev to the Prime Minister of Georgia. Noting that the existing relations between the two countries serve to
ensure regional security, Colonel-General Ali Naghiyev expressed confidence
that the relevant authorities will continue to work closely together to combat
international threats to national security.
The
Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Garibashvili thanked the President of the
Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev for the greetings and asked the head of the
Service to convey his greetings to the President of Azerbaijan.
